Hart County Fair July 3rd - July 8th 2017




Hart County Fair Agriculture Building and Floral Hall is a flurry of activity during Fair Season!

THURSDAY JULY 6th 2017,
Fair entries are being accepted for judging from 9 am until noon.
Also on Thursday, the Ag Building's Floral Hall and 4H Hall will open to the public at 6 pm CST!
During the week of the Fair, Floral Hall offers exhibits from Categories that are Open to the general public, 4H & FFA.
Most Fair entry exhibits are displayed throughout the week of the fair! In addition to the Beauty Contests, Culinary Contests be sure and stop in the Agriculture (Ag) Building to visit Floral Hall & see displays and awards, categories include;
CULINARY CONTESTS, QUILT ENTRIES, BEST CROCHETED ENTRY, BEST KNITTED ENTRY, PHOTOGRAPHS, GARDEN DISPLAY, FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS, TOBACCO, FEED-SEED AND GRAIN ENTRY, BEST CAKE ENTRY, BEST CANNING ENTRY & MORE.

THE 2017 SPLIT WHITE OAK BASKET CONTEST
Saturday, July 8th, 2017
Registration 10am to 11am
Judging begins at 11:00am
Awards at 1:00
Entry to Fair Grounds after 3:30pm will cost $10.00


HANDMADE SPLIT WHITE OAK BASKET CONTEST CLASSES:


1) Beginning Basket Makers
(have not entered the contest before and have just started making baskets in the past four years)

2) Intermediate Makers Class - basket makers from any year of age
(must have 4-6 years experience above the beginning basket makers class)

3) Classic Utilitarian Split White Oak Basket
(anyone can enter this category. These baskets traditionally had a specific work usage such as egg baskets, lunch baskets, berry baskets, kindling baskets, picnic baskets, yarn baskets, pie baskets, collection plate baskets, marble baskets, etc.)

4) Decorative Baskets

5) Antique Baskets - over 40 years old
(No premiums or appreciation prizes for this category)

6) Non-Split White Oak Native Material
Hand Processed Without The Use of Kits.
(Material such as: Honeysuckle, Grape Vine, Non-Oak but Wood, Bark, and Straw.)

7) Non-Native Bought Material
(I.E. Reed, Rattan, or Purchased kits)

8) Split White Oak Visitor Class
(Basket makers from outside South central Kentucky)

9) Children's Category
(Split White Oak Basket makers 2 yrs. to 20 yrs. of age.)

10) Novelty
(Split White Oak non-basket items (fans, hats, vases, pet beds, thimbles, wishing wells, etc.)

11) Children's Category
Non-White Oak, Native Material, no kits

12) Children's
 purchased materials

Split White Oak Basket Contest Rules:
1. All baskets of any kind or description are eligible.
2. The entrant (or some member of the immediate family (must have made the baskets within the past three years.
3. Baskets must be made of split white oak and cannot be made from kits.
4. The Family Medical Center has the right to purchase the winning baskets or the entrant can agree to make a basket similar to the winning basket for the Family Medical Center for display in its collection. The price of the basket would be in addition to the prize money. Please help us keep this tradition so we can display these winning baskets locally.
5. This contest is open to all residents of Hart and adjoining counties.

Each person entering a basket will receive a $10.00 Appreciation Prize for entering; excluding antique baskets.

THE 2017 HART COUNTY FAIR QUILT CONTEST
Friday July 7th, 2017

Entry to Fair Grounds after 3:30pm will cost $10.00

• FRIDAY JULY 7th, 2017
Quilt entries will be accepted from 11:00 am CST until 2:00 pm.
JUDGING will start at 2:00 pm. Awards will be at 6pm.
Quilts must be left until 7:00pm.
It is requested that quilts be left until Monday.
The Quilt contest is located in the Agriculture Building at the
Hart County Fairgrounds
Highway 31-W
2 miles south of Munfordville

12 Divisions:
1. Novelty
2. Applique
3. Piece Work Hand pieced hand quilted 300 inches in perimeter or larger.
4. Machine pieced & machine quilted
5. Machine Pieced & Hand quilted
6. Cross Stitch
7. Crib or Baby Quilt - hand
8. Wall Hanging Quilt (hand or machine quilted on home sewing machine,
size not to exceed 52"x60")
9. Children's Category - age up to 12 yrs old, any kind or size quilt.
10. Children's Category - age up to 13 - 16 yrs old, any kind or size of quilt.
11. Antique Quilt -  No prize Money, but share your family heirloom with us.
12. Quilts under 300"


Rules:
1. All quilts must have been competed within the last three years and must be clean and in good condition.
2. Dust ruffles will not be accepted.
3. All quilts must be 300 inches in perimeter or larger except division 12.
(NOTE: This size only applies to the divisions 1-5 and not to divisions 6, 7 & 12).
4. The quilt pattern must be identified on the entry tag.
5. This contest is open to all residents of Hart County & adjoining counties.
6. The person entering the quilt does not have to be the maker of the quilt but we do want to know the name of the maker.
7. Children category 9 & 10, child must complete all of the work.

Entries will be Judged as follows:
Workmanship- 40 points
General Appearance - 20 points
Pattern & Harmony of Color - 20 points
Material - 20 points
Total 100 points

Prizes:
Each division will receive a 1st. 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

1st Place $50
2nd Place $25
3rd Place $12.50

Grand prize: BEST OF SHOW $150.

FFA department includes; VEGETABLES, POTTED FLOWERS/PLANTS, CORN, HAY, TOBACCO, STRIPPED CROP, GREEN TOBACCO, FFA RECORD BOOKS, and FFA NOTEBOOKS.
